Purpose
The purpose of the Junior QA Engineer is to develop test cases and apply testing methods with tools to technically test our products and integration to other applications and services. The Junior QA Engineer must have enough experience and skills to develop test conditions and execute tests using test tools and simulators.
This is a very collaborative, team-based role that requires the Junior QA Engineer to work daily as a member of a Scrum team that is held accountable for the success of delivery of each increment of the software product. The Scrum team is responsible for the full lifecycle of the product including assisting with installation, data migrations, new feature development, performance enhancements, and maintenance and support.
Responsibilities of the Role
o Develop and Execution of manual tests
o Develop, test conditions, input test data, and expected results for one or more test plans in a development cycle by analyzing the Functional Specifications, System Specifications and User Stories. This could include component, performance, database configuration tests, database impacts, software scenarios, regression testing, negative testing, error or bug retests, or usability
o Customize and run test tools and simulators
o Technical system tests which includes the following:
o Confirming that log files are correct o Confirming that database is populated correctly
o Internal and external integration points tested
o Confirming that configuration options are correct
o Document and report defects to software developers and QA Lead
o Monitor bug resolution efforts and track successes, reporting frequently on quality and resolution metrics including historical analyses of test results
o Work with the development team to resolve any issues that arise out of the testing process o Validate defect fixes
o Inform the Project Manager/Scrum Master/Technical Project Manager or QA Lead of any issues that may affect the schedule, , or quality of the product or the testing process
o Assist with Post Production deployment testing
