In order to defraud people who do not know how to join JWTZ, fraudsters use the fact that they do not know how to join as a criterion.

In addition, the youth are unaware of the requirements for membership in JWTZ. Many are dissatisfied because they believe they lack the qualifications to join JWTZ, and others feel deceived when they are promised assistance despite their inability to meet the requirements.

Tanzania's military is comprised of the Tanzania People's Defence Force (TPDF). It was established in September 1964, following a mutiny by the Tanganyika Rifles, the former colonial military force. The new TPDF troops were taught from the beginning that they were a people's force under civilian control. Tanzania, unlike some of its neighbours, has never experienced a coup d'état or civil war.

The mission of the TPDF is to defend Tanzania and all Tanzanians, particularly the population and their political ideology. Since 2004, conscripts are required to serve for two years.
